Dental Veneers

Side view of patient with tone color matching veneersDental veneers are wafer-thin shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Shaded to match the color of your natural teeth, or often a few shades whiter in some cosmetic cases, veneers are made with a porcelain material. They can also be made with a composite resin.

Dental veneers are a cosmetic solution used to treat several concerns. This could include chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth. One veneer may be used to disguise a chipped or broken tooth, or several may be used to transform a smile. At Mor Smiles we offer cosmetic solutions that meet the smile needs of each individual patient.

Who Could Benefit From Veneers?

Veneers are not the right choice for every patient. The best way to determine whether you’re a good candidate for veneers is to meet with your dentist. There are some factors that can influence whether or not someone could benefit from veneers.

Patients who have chipped teeth will find that veneers can restore the way that the tooth looks and functions. Gapped teeth, exceedingly small gaps between the teeth, can be covered by dental veneers. This is a good solution for those who do not want to go through the steps involved with braces.

Some tooth stains can also be minimized or reduced with in-office whitening treatments, but those who have severe stains may find that veneers are the better cosmetic solution. Dental veneers can be colored to match your natural teeth. No one will be able to tell that your veneer is not a part of your natural tooth.

Key Benefits of Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a great solution for covering up cosmetic concerns that may be impacting the way that you feel about yourself, and the way that you smile. There are several key benefits to dental veneers. Dental veneers are versatile and can instantly alter the appearance of one or more teeth affected by a range of cosmetic concerns. This could include discolorations, chips, minor alignment concerns and staining. Veneers offer you a way to instantly correct or hide these cosmetic concerns.

They are also natural-looking. When dental veneers are placed on your teeth, they look incredibly real. In fact, no one should be able to tell that you have veneers. Porcelain veneers offer the look that will have them blending in seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Porcelain veneers are also durable and can stand up to the bite forces they will be exposed to. They should last for several years, particularly if you have a good oral hygiene routine, and you visit your dentist for your cleanings and checkups. Dental veneers are also mostly stain-resistant and are not easily stained by the foods and drinks that you enjoy.

One of the best benefits of dental veneers is that the process is quite simple. You will typically visit the office just twice, and leave with the perfect smile you’ve been dreaming of.

The Dental Veneer Process

In most cases, it takes just two visits to the office to get your veneers. During your first visit, your dentist will need to prepare the tooth, or teeth, for the veneers. This could include making impressions to ensure a natural fit, and smoothing down the enamel on your teeth. A very small amount of enamel will need to be removed in order to get a seamless perfect fit for porcelain veneers. At your return visit, once your dental veneers are ready to be placed, your dentist will get to work. Each veneer will be placed on the right tooth, and checked to ensure that it offers you the perfect fit. A small bit of adjusting may be needed before the veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth.

When you have veneers, you typically won’t need to return to the office for anything else outside of your cleaning and routine examination.
